I'll
never be a "Fine Art" artist but then, I have never
tried to be. I paint on things. Sometimes I make the things first
and then I paint on them. Paint is usually on me and all my clothes.
I am something of a maverick and therefore there will probably
never be a catagory for what I do. I even like to think of my
art is as my own little private joke on the often stuffy and arrogant
world of ART. Perhaps a better description for what I do is simply
"functional art". I prefer to paint with latex and acrylics
and I rarely use art brushes or expensive art supplies that one
must buy in expensive art supply stores. Mostly I am creatively
gratified to make something from nothing with the simplest tools
and least amount of fuss.

I especially
love doing collage art with glue and tissue paperThese
two southwestern desert scenes were done on recycledcheap
prints. I threw away the prints, repainted the frames, sponged the
matting and created the
collages with tissue paper glued to the back of the glass.
Sometimes I
build large frames using architectural items and
then do the paper collage on glass mounted inside the frame

I prefer
to paint on wood, though, and I enjoy building the frame first
and then painting inside.

of my passions is building and painting unusual fireplace screens

Because
I am not famous or seeking to be famous, I will shamelessly create
art for the simple purpose of "filling a spot" with the
right colors to complement room decor. (Gasp!)
