Why?

There are things in this world I simply do not understand. I have questions.

For example:

• Why do grass seeds seek out, root themselves and flourish in a quarter inch of lifeless dust in a crack in my concrete driveway, and yet refuse to grow in the tended, fertilized bald spots in my lawn?

• Or why does the grass now thrive and struggle out from under the tons of rock we finally covered the side of the yard where previously grass absolutely would not grow?

• Why do weeds grow where flowering plants won’t?

• Why is it that the price tags on flower pots, which are glued down with space age adhesive that takes nothing less than sand blasting to remove, are always in view no matter how many times I turn the pot?

• Why is it that price tags are glued down with space age adhesive that takes nothing less than sand blasting to remove?

• Why is it that price tags always cover the part of the label I really want to read?

• What is the real difference between scattered showers and isolated showers?

• Why is it that, while driving, when I desperately need to fish something out of my handbag, I cannot buy a red light, but on the day I am late for an appointment, I can’t get a single green light?

•Why are drug companies allowed to spend millions of dollars advertising drugs to us, that we can neither buy or use without a presciption or even know what they are for in the first place and then pass on the costof said advertising to us?

• Why are DVDs and CDs sealed up like state secrets?

• Why are some things, like certain razor blades and plastic electric toothbrush heads, locked up inside glass display cases as though they were made of rare metal and I have to find an employee with a key to get to them?

• Why can’t I find an employee at Home Depot or Lowe’s when I really need one but ten of them will ask me if I need help, when I don’t?

• Why is it that when I need to write a quick note the only thing I can find to write with is a white crayon or a yellow highlighter or a pencil that needs sharpening?

• Why is it all pencils in the pencil cup need to be sharpened, always?

• Why does the inside of my car smell like the monkey house at the zoo?

• Why is it that no matter how I part my hair, the wind will blow it the opposite way?

• Why do I have to swear on the Bible in court when the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed in a federal building?

• Why is it that our children can't read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?

• Why do we only get to choose from just two people to run for president and fifty for Miss America?

• Why is it that a viable baby can be stabbed in the neck as long as it hasn’t finished emerging from the womb, but it’s murder for an unborn child to be killed during the commission of a crime?

Inquiring minds really want to know.
